Wiregrass Talent Quest Jr is a non-professional talent competition for children ages 5 to 18 that is also a fundraiser for the center. Contestants participate in one of 4 categories of talent: Dance, Vocal, Instrumental, or Musical Theater. THIS YEAR'S SHOW WILL BE THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12 AT 7 PM IN THE AUDITORIUM OF THE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER!
Contestants are judged on Stage Presence (professionalism & technical ability); Appearance/Costume (appropriate to the act); and Difficulty of Selection or Act.
This year prizes have grown; Overall Winner: 1st place ($500), 2nd place ($250), 3rd place ($150); then Category Awards: best in Dance ($200), best in Vocals ($200), Best in Instrumentals ($200), best in Musical Theater ($200). And then there is the Peoples Choice Award where the student who raises the most money through People's Choice Award voting wins $100 and gives 30% of the total People's Choice Award earnings back to the student's school to be used in an art form chosen by the student with their Principal
This year's People's Choice Award winner was Kaitlin Simmons, a senior from Dothan High School, who presented a check to Shane Perry, Drama Teacher from Dothan High School, to be used in their drama department for licensing fees and materials for next year's theatrical productions!
